Camilla Belle joins FREAKY DEAKY
Since last year’s TIFF, where this film found a second wind, production on the long-gestating adaptation of Elmore Leonard’s novel,Freaky Deaky, has seemingly vanished into thin air.
Well, according to The Playlist, a third wind may have just blown its way into the sails of this long talked-about project.
The outlet has revealed that Camilla Belle is now set to star in the film, with her representatives confirming. The novel follows a former couple with “radical politics who reunite for a score worth millions, while a cop with bomb squad experience” attempts to bring down the bomb-making jilted lovers.
Last attached to the likes of William H. Macy, it is not known if he is or is not still involved with the film, but it would appear as though that is the cast. Charles Matthau was also attached to direct the film, which has also not been confirmed. At this point, it appears as though this is that very project, the one announced during TIFF of last year, just with Camilla Belle in the lead female role. Here’s to hoping that’s the case, anyway.
While I’m not a huge fan of Camilla Belle as an actress, I do absolutely adore this novel, and I’ll be more than happy to shell over cash to see a compelling adaptation of Leonard’s classic.
