The Tree of Life runtime revealed

While this year will see an absolutely packed Croisette, the king of the roost pre-Cannes Film Festival has to be the return of iconic auteur, Terrence Malick.

THE TREE OF LIFE stars Brad Pitt and Sean Penn, and tells the story of a family in the 1950s, and ultimately the story of the family’s eldest son, Jack, played by Penn. Looking to find the meaning of life, Jack goes soul searching, questioning that very idea, as well as the existence of faith. Toss in some dinosaurs and some stunning visual effects and cinematography, and you have THE TREE OF LIFE in a nutshell.

Now, a new Cannes trailer for the film has hit (hat tip to Rope Of Silicon), and while it’s not in English, it’s no less moving. With a brilliant score playing over the sequences, not much new footage is shown, but it’s still an absolutely fantastic trailer. Malick appears to be on a whole different level with is filmmaking here, so while anticipation and expectations may be high, this looks like one film that may be able to live up to all of it.
