Cannes 2011: Trailer for Woody Allen’s MIDNIGHT IN PARIS captures the magic of the city
In Woody Allen's ongoing European tour, the auteur has settled down once again in Paris - but this time it's not a musical starring Julia Roberts. Owen Wilson and Rachel McAdams portray a typical couple who've embarked on a forced romantic getaway: the woman wants to rekindle the love between them and be more adventurous, and the man just wants to be left alone in his old ways. By day, Paris is seen through the eyes of the typical tourist: beautiful, charming, but not truly transformative.
Take a look at Paris after the stroke of midnight after the break. MIDNIGHT IN PARIS is the opening night film for the 2011 Cannes Film Festival.
Cities like Paris can become a part of you if you let it, and walking the streets at night alone allows for a deeper connection with the city streets and its people. Wilson's character delves into a new world that shows the promise of the magical elements of a city synonymous with romance and intrigue.
Hopefully, our own Chase Whale will let us know what he thinks of the movie when it opens the Cannes Film Festival this May!
