As official sponsor of the Cannes Film Festival and global supporters of independent film, our buddies over at Stella Artois came up with the brilliant idea of holding a world-wide casting call to attend the Cannes Film Festival. I know what you’re thinking…wait, you can audition to go to Cannes? Why yes, yes you Cannes!

Paying homage to the one and only Jacques d’Azur, Stella asked film (and beer) lovers alike to audition for the “King of Cannes” role on their website through an interactive audition process. Not only does the winner get sent to Cannes, but they also earn themselves a starring role in the biopic of the legend himself! What better way to pay homage than to find someone with the requisite charm, sophistication, and talent to play the King of Kings himself?

In celebration of Stella's contest, I had the pleasure of attending an exclusive event hosted for members of the brand’s online community, La Sociéte. The event took place in NYC on Set #9, an interactive film set to showcase the brand’s Casting Call program where guests were given the opportunity to win a trip to Cannes Film Festival through, on the spot! No online voters needed, only VIP judges (including yours truly) were on board to choose the lucky winner of the night!

Though the event took place in NYC, one could feel as though they had been transported to France...I swear it was not the complimentary glasses of Stella Artois. Guests got to explore various themed film sets, pose for movie posters, and submit audition videos in their very best accent for a lucky trip to Cannes along to a swanky jazz soundtrack setting the sophisticated tone of the evening. After many auditions in the Le Cannes Casting Call Booth later, that one lucky trip was given away to winner Brea Seder, who won us over with her lovely charm and wit.

Along with winner Brea Seder of the NYC event, you should all know that our Editor-in-Chief Chase Whale and News Editor Josh Brunsting will also be heading over to Cannes to cover the Festival courtesy of Stella Artois! That's right, no audition was needed for Chase because he is naturally rico suave and talented (he didn't pay me to say this). Please make sure to stay tuned to us as we cover the Festival this month and to give a warm cheers to Stella Artois for being so wonderful and for supporting the world of independent film. As the French say - "À la vôtre"!
