Just a few days after it was announced, we not only know who will be starring in Takashi Miike’s upcoming adaptation of Capcom’s Nintendo DS video game franchise, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, but also a planned release for the project.

The video game titan has announced (via Giant Bomb) that the film will hit (most likely just in Japan) in the spring of 2012, and will star Hiroki Narimiya as the titular attorney. Takumi Saito and Mirei Kiritani will co-star.

Apparently the project is currently shooting, and will be a stark change of pace for the director, best known for films like AUDITION and ICHI THE KILLER. I’m a huge fan of Miike, despite the fact that his last film HARA-KIRI: DEATH OF A SAMURAI was relatively underwhelming, so while this isn’t quite his normal stomping ground, it is that freshness in the material that has me most interested.

The project sounds relatively interesting, so while I’m not all that familiar with the film’s cast, this is definitely one film I can’t wait to check out.
