Carey Mulligan Girl With The Dragon Tattoo

Last we heard of Nicolas Winding Refn’s upcoming noir thriller, DRIVE, it was getting ready to ramp up its production, and Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston had joined the film’s ever growing cast.

Well, according to THR, Carey Mulligan has joined the film’s cast, and we also know that (thanks to The Playlist) Refn will shoot his follow up, the Bangkok based Western, ONLY GOD FORGIVES, back to back.

DRIVE is based off of the James Sallis’ novel of the same name which follows a Hollywood stuntman who has a side gig as a getaway driver.  However, when a job goes bad, he goes on the run and is joined by an ex-con’s main squeeze, to be played by the up and coming thespian, Mulligan.

Personally, it goes without saying that this project is right down my alley.  However, I do really love the casting of Mulligan here.  She’s a fantastic actress, who I would love to see given a bit longer of a leash, which will no doubt be the case here, in Refn’s genre opus.

We’ll get to see the results soon enough, as the film starts shooting September 20.
