I know exactly two things about CARS (and, by extension, CARS 2): I don't even remotely get the appeal, but kids love it (I base this entirely on the fact that my best friend's two little nephews obsess over CARS and watch it daily), and that I am utterly flummoxed by my perception that the cars in CARS exist in world without humans. Is any of this true? I don't know, but I am guessing I will have more answers when CARS 2 comes out this summer.

The latest CARS sees the, umm, cars taking on Europe. As cars do, ya know? Directed by king o' Pixar, John Lasseter, CARS 2 takes the beloved characters from the first film, adds in a bevy of new cars, and puts them all to the test in the World Grand Prix. It does sounds kind of exciting and charming. Pixar has hit us with yet another new trailer for the film, which begs the question - why do cars need offices and couches?

You can check out the new trailer over at Apple HERE, and you can (temporarily) check out the CARS 2 takeover on the Apple trailers' homepage (which is actually sort of cute).

The film's official synopsis is as such:

"Star racecar Lightning McQueen (voice of Owen Wilson) and the incomparable tow truck Mater (voice of Larry the Cable Guy) take their friendship to exciting new places in CARS 2 when they head overseas to compete in the first-ever World Grand Prix to determine the world’s fastest car. But the road to the championship is filled with plenty of potholes, detours and hilarious surprises when Mater gets caught up in an intriguing adventure of his own: international espionage. Torn between assisting Lightning McQueen in the high-profile race and towing the line in a top-secret spy mission, Mater’s action-packed journey leads him on an explosive chase through the streets of Japan and Europe, trailed by his friends and watched by the whole world. Adding to the fast-paced fun is a colorful new all-car cast that includes secret agents, menacing villains and international racing competitors."

The film opens on June 24.
