In the middle of slow drip casting announcements for THE HUNGER GAMES, it's a welcome change to be able to name an entire cast in one fell swoop. Today comes the announcement of the full cast for independent film, LUMPY. The independent film will be toplined by Justin Long, Jess Weixler, Tyler Labine, and Addison Timlin.

Its premise is as such:

"The best man at Scott (Long) and Kristin’s (Weixler) Arizona destination wedding, Lumpy (Labine) is the life of the party, until a long, indulgent night leads to his untimely death. Forced to cancel their honeymoon and fly back to Minneapolis to arrange for his funeral, Scott and Kristin meet Ramsey (Timlin) and learn that Lumpy isn’t quite who they thought he was."

The film is writer Ted Koland's directorial debut. Long, Weixler, Labine, and Timlin will also be joined by Michael Landes and Evan Jones, along with veteran comedienne Shelley Long. While the premise does not sound wholly remarkable, I am heartened by such an interesting cast of emerging talent.

It's interesting to see that, post-GOING THE DISTANCE, Long is again cast as the male lead in a film. While not nuts about his whole resume, I did enjoy him in DISTANCE, so this could be a solid role for him. Long will next be seen in TEN YEAR (the Channing Tatum high school reunion project).

Weixler is perhaps best known for her other independent roles, including TEETH and PETER AND VANDY. She was also one of my very favorite parts of Sundance film, THE LIE. She recently finished three films: FREE SAMPLES, PERIPHERY, and THE NORMALS. I love Weixler's style, so it's good news to hear that she has such a full slate. She's someone I'd watch in just about anything.

Labine is currently on TV's Mad Love, but his resume is packed with a number of recognizable roles in films like TUCKER & DALE VS. EVIL, ANTITRUST, and my personal favorite, 2GETHER the television movie about a fake boy band. He will next be seen in RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES (really?! Good for you, Labine!).

LUMPY is currently shooting on location in Minnesota. I sincerely hope they change the project's name.
