Cast coming together for SOMETHING BORROWED adaptation
If you've ever even wandered past the chick lit section of your local bookstore, surely you've spotted one of author Emily Giffin's numerous genre titles. The bestselling author has four books in circulation, with her fifth ("Heart of the Matter") hitting shelves this May. Her first two books ("Something Borrowed" and "Something Blue") have both been optioned for films, and now we're getting an idea of how casting is coming together for the forthcoming SOMETHING BORROWED (and, presumably, the follow-up SOMETHING BLUE).
The book and film focus on Rachel White, a single Manhattan attorney who has always played by the rules. Her best friend, Darcy Rhone, has been her confidant since they were kids. But wild Darcy often outshines "good girl" Rachel, which makes it all the more complicated when Rachel sleeps with Darcy's fiance, Dex, after her drunken thirtieth birthday.
Ginnifer Goodwin is signed on to play Rachel, with television actor Colin Egglesfield set for Dex. John Krasinski will play Rachel's close guy friend, Ethan. No word yet on who will play Darcy.
Luke Greenfield (THE GIRL NEXT DOOR) will direct. The script has been adapted by Jennie Snyder Urman (who has previously penned scripts for television shows, including "Lipstick Jungle" and "90210"). It is being produced by Alcon by Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson, along with the 2S team of Hilary Swank and Molly Smith, and Aaron Lubin and Pamela Schein Murphy of Wild Ocean Films.
