With the likes of Mel Gibson and Demian Bichir now joining the ranks of the pending MACHETE KILLS, the film just got even more intriguing, if you are a fan of A-list actresses.

Variety reports that Amber Heard has joined the cast of the upcoming film, which will find the team of Danny Trejo and director Robert Rodriguez returning for this project. The film will follow Machete as he is hired to take out an arms dealer, played by Gibson, who fully intends on launching a missile in the hopes of starting a world war. Personally, while I’m not a massive fan of Heard as an actress, I really do think that this is a role that fits her well. She’ll play an assassin, and the idea of her heading back to genre films is really great.

In other casting news, Deadline reports that busybody Sharlto Copley has joined the cast of MALEFICENT, and will play King Stefan, opposite Angelina Jolie. Joining work on the upcoming OPEN GRAVE and OLDBOY remake, Copley has rightly been a rather sought after commodity over the past couple of weeks, and will hopefully fit perfectly in this revisionist storyline.

Finally, Deadline reports that the pair of Kellan Lutz and Spencer Locke are your new Tarzan and Jane, and will star in the upcoming TARZAN reboot. This is not to be mixed up with WB’s pending take on the character and personally, I have little to no interest in a project like this. The cast isn’t remotely interesting, and with no-name director Reinhard Kloos aboard to direct, things don’t look up.

What do you think?
