Casting: Ben Walker to lead ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER; cast joins [REC] GENESIS
In the midst of the final bit of Sundance news coming out of this year’s festival, a few films have just gotten new additions to their casts.
The big casting news comes thanks to Deadline, who has revealed that Ben Walker has taken the lead role in Timur Bekmambetov’s upcoming film, ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER, currently being set up at 20th Century Fox. Read more about this project and [REC] GENESIS after the break.
The film is Bekmambetov’s take on the Seth Graham-Smith novel, which re-imagines the iconic former president as, just as the title states, a vampire hunter. Walker has been rumored to take on the role for some time, and with his name only growing bigger (he’ll next be seen in X-MEN: FIRST CLASS), he seems to have had the legs to beat out other names like Adrien Brody and Josh Lucas. And personally, I think they made the absolute perfect choice.
I haven’t read the book, but he seems to fit the part, and I’m really excited to see what he can do with the role.
Bloody Disgusting has also revealed a new bit of casting. The outlet is reporting that Leticia Dolera has joined the cast of the upcoming film [REC] GENESIS, the third film in the really great [REC] horror franchise, which will be followed by [REC] Apocalypse.
Directed by Paco Plaza and Jaume Balaguero, I absolutely adore the past two films in this franchise, particularly the sequel, which is one of the most affecting horror films I’ve seen in quite some time. Hopefully this one follows suit.
