Casting: GOATS, WE BOUGHT A ZOO, and Stan Lee gets his SPIDER-MAN cameo
While it’s only the beginning of the week, we already have some really interesting casting news to dig through.
First, Vera Farmiga, Keri Russell, Minnie Driver, and Will Arnett have joined the upcoming film GOATS. The film, directed by Christopher Neil, is an adaptation of Mark Jude Proirier novel of the same name. GOATS “follows teen Ellis (Phillips) as he transfers to the East Coast prep school where his father (Burrell) made his mark as a student.” The foursome join Duchovney, Ty Burrell, and Graham Phillips. Personally, anything Farmiga touches will get me excited, so toss in talented names like Russell, Driver, and Arnett, and you have a film that I’m actually quite interested in checking out.
Speaking of projects drawing a lot of interest, the consummate “that guy” John Michael Higgins has joined the upcoming Cameron Crowe film, WE BOUGHT A ZOO. Literally in every comedy you’ve ever seen (okay, maybe not, but it feels that way), Higgins is a really talented comedian, and one that is a much more familiar face to many, than a name. Hopefully this film will change that.
Finally, and least shocking, Stan Lee has confirmed that he has a cameo in the upcoming SPIDER-MAN reboot. Having a cameo in just about every Marvel film we’ve seen, this is neither shocking, nor all that interesting. Hopefully this reboot is half as good as even the third SPIDER-MAN film. At this point, it doesn’t feel like it will even live up to that.
