As the film passes the $1 billion mark, PIRATES OF THE CARRIBEAN: ON STRANGER TIDES has become one of the 10 highest grossing films of all time, and has apparently enticed its star into heading back to the well.

The Wrap has revealed that, to no one’s shock, Johnny Depp is seriously considering going back to the PIRATES franchise for a fifth film. Terry Rossio has been working on a script for a fifth PIRATES film since the early part of this year, and while it’s doubtful that TIDES helmer Rob Marshall will be back, one should expect this project to be pushed out as quickly as humanly possible if Depp does indeed sign.

Personally, I could really care less at this point. Depp is fine as Jack Sparrow, but it’s becoming more of a shtick than an actually interesting performance. I’d love to see him take on a project like DEAD MAN, but a film like that hasn’t been on Depp’s slate in some time.

In other casting news, J.B. Smoove has joined the cast of Sacha Baron Cohen’s THE DICTATOR, according to THR. He joins Cohen, Anna Faris, Ben Kingsley, Megan Fox, John C. Reilly, and Jason Matzoukas in the Larry Charles-directed film, based on Saddam Hussein’s novel, Zabibah and The King.

Finally, THR is also reporting that Rodrigo Santoro has joined WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU’RE EXPECTING, as Jennifer Lopez’s character’s husband. He joins Lopez, Cameron Diaz, Anna Kendrick, and Brooklyn Decker in the film, which has been gaining quite a bit of momentum as of late. The film doesn’t entice this writer much, but the cast is definitely an interesting mixture of names. Hopefully it can take the source material and do something interesting with it. Fingers are crossed.
