Catherine Hardwicke to helm a pilot for ABC’s new “Romeo & Juliet” series
So this is what we will be getting instead of HAML3T.
According to Deadline, Catherine Hardwicke, coming off the cancellaton of her long talked about adaptation of the famous Shakespeare piece Hamlet, will be directing the pilot of a new ABC TV series, Romeo & Juliet.
The new series will be sticking with the period setting, which is definitely interesting, and with a script penned Andrea Berloff, the project has some definite talent behind it. It will be produced by Todd Garner, Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen, who have worked with the director on projects like TWILIGHT and THE NATIVITY STORY.
Personally, while I’d rather be seeing her musical take on Hamlet, I do have to say, anything new by Hardwicke will be a welcome addition to my life. I love her as a filmmaker, and depending on the cast assembled here, this project could prove to be far more interesting than previously thought.
