Character posters are so hot right now. And, as interesting as it may be to get acquainted with characters before we see their film, it's starting to get a little tedious, especially when the posters don't really add too much to our understanding of the cinematic experience they belong to.

That said, let's talk about the just-released character posters for the upcoming LEGION. We have six posters featuring some of the film's main characters. The posters give us a closer physical look at the characters and, read together, give us a pretty Biblical proclamation (taken from Matthew 13:49) that also works to put LEGION's plot in a nutshell: "So it will be at the end of the age the angels will come forth to take out the wicked and throw them into the furnace of fire." Paul Bettany is the archangel Michael, here on Earth to save even the wicked from a human extermination at the hands of all the other angels.

Hit the jump to see a gallery of the full character posters, including Dennis Quaid's Bob Hanson, Adrianne Palicki's Charlie, Lucas Black's Jeep Hanson, Tyrese Gibson's Kyle Williams, and Kevin Durand's Gabriel.

While these individual posters don't give us much insight to each character, they look damn cool and add to the overall feel of the film, so they get a thumbs up from me.

You can check out the first LEGION poster HERE, and the film's trailer HERE.

LEGION will fly into theaters on January 22, 2010.
