Chris Hemsworth adds Formula One driver biopic, RUSH, to already packed slate
Chris Hemsworth is emerging as the big new go-to name for action properties this year (bringing to mind something like Sam Worthington's rise to fame after AVATAR, or even Tom Hardy's similar trajectory in the past few months), as the Aussie is adding yet another big role to his already-packed schedule.
Hemsworth will star in the true life tale of British Formula One driver James Hunt in RUSH. The film has been penned by Peter Morgan and looks to be none other than Ron Howard's next directing project. The film will focus on Hunt's rivalry with fellow racer, Austrian Niki Lauda, in the 1970's. Deadline reports that "deals aren't done yet, but it's all shaping up for this picture to happen early next year."
The actor is also slated to reprise his role as THOR in 2013's sequel, is next filming SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN, and will be seen in Marvel's big THE AVENGERS.
The story of the Hunt/Lauda rivalry should make a solid picture, and if you're looking for another glimpse into Formula One drama, I urge you to check out documentary SENNA, which also features a number of rivalries between its title subject, Ayrton Senna, and fellow drivers.
