Christoph Waltz to be The Lizard in the upcoming Spider-Man reboot?
While I’m not quite sure if an entire franchise reboot is totally called for, if this rumor pans out, my tune may very well be changed.
According to the new issue of Production Weekly, Sony is currently looking at tapping Christoph Waltz as the upcoming lead villain in their long talked about 3D reboot of the Spider-Man film franchise. The Playlist goes as far as to say that the character he would play is The Lizard, which has been the rumored villain of choice since the film was originally announced.
The film is set to begin shooting come December, and while it doesn’t seem too out of the blue that Sony would be looking to go this route, I do have to say, this would be shocking to me. I have higher thoughts of Waltz, mainly that it would be odd if he would go from a film like THE GREEN HORNET to SPIDER-MAN. That said, if this happens, this is going to be a massive cast, with Andrew Garfield already jumping aboard as the film’s lead.
All in all, this is a story that may have a bit of legs, so more on this one as it comes.
