Clint Mansell to score music for Duncan Jones’ SOURCE CODE
The more films Clint Mansell scores for, the more incredible he gets. Mansell is the man behind the sound of all of Darren Aronofksy’s films, PI being his first film to compose. One of the obvious highlights of his career is the REQIUEM FOR A DREAM soundtrack, specifically the "Summer Overture," as it's been used in many trailers as a sort of dramatic kind of goosebump-giving cue. Personally, I am a huge fan of the music he did on THE FOUNTAIN, and usually have that in my iPod. Other films Mansell has scored for include SAHARA, SMOKIN' ACES and MOON, and that is where our bit of news begins.
The man behind MOON, Duncan Jones, is finishing up his second film, SOURCE CODE. Just a little over a week ago we were able to announce that SOURCE CODE would be gracing screens in the U.S. on April 15, 2011. Other exciting news is that Clint Mansell will be man to score the music for SOURCE CODE. Being a huge Mansell fan, any film that his name is attached to brings excitement. This news come to us via a tweet by Jones himself: "Have a bloody fantastic bit of SOURCE CODE news. Super star Clint Mansell WILL be scoring the film. You have no idea how relieved I am."
His relief is understandable, Mansell's score gave so much atmosphere to the film MOON, which added so much to the feel of the movie, no doubt his attachment to SOURCE CODE will do the same.
The film is about a soldier who is a part of a government experiment where he is transferred in to the body of someone who is witness to a horrible terrorist attack and he is forced to re-live it over and over in order to try and discover who was responsible. The films stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Michelle Monaghan, Vera Farmiga, and Jeffrey Wright.
