CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS sequel gets writers; directing duo not coming back
As HORRIBLE BOSSES gets ready to hit the public this weekend, the writing team behind the much talked-about comedy have apparently got their sights set on a project that’s a tad bit different.
24 Frames is reporting that writers John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein are set to pen the script for the upcoming sequel to CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS, with the directing pair of Phil Lord and Chris Miller not returning for the sequel. Instead the film will go to someone “who had worked in a lower-profile capacity on developing the story for the original.”
The film will not be based on writers Ron and Judi Barrett’s follow-up to Cloudy, Pickles to Pittsburgh, but will instead be a completely original tale from Daley and Goldstein.
Personally, as a fan of the original film, I do definitely have a lot of hope for this project. I haven’t seen BOSSES yet, so I can’t speak to the writers and their skill, but I do have a lot of love for this franchise, so this is one I can’t wait to see.
