With all this talk of films like THE DARK KNIGHT RISES and THE MAN OF STEEL, and studios like DreamWorks turning their backs on this year’s Comic-Con, apparently the star power will still be in full force.

The LA Times is reporting that the upcoming Jon Favreau film COWBOYS & ALIENS will be making its world debut at the iconic convention. The film hits on July 29, and stars Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford, Olivia Wilde, and Sam Rockwell.

Based on the comic of the same name, the film is set in 1873 Arizona, and follows a man who must lead a group of people as they fight against an impending alien invasion. Easily one of the more interesting summer blockbusters (both as a film and as a box office entity), this is slated to be the biggest player at this year’s Comic-Con, save for something like AMAZING SPIDER-MAN and for the pop culture masses, BREAKING DAWN.

The film has also seen a new trailer released (thanks to THR for the heads up), and it’s easily the best yet. I’m not wholly sold on the film quite yet (I think it will be more of a flop than a success), but this trailer makes me far more excited to see it. I love the cast and Favreau as a filmmaker, so here’s to hoping this one can live up to the potential.
