There are very few names in the film world quite as enigmatic as actor/director Crispin Hellion Glover. Best known for turns in a wide range of films such as CHARLIE’S ANGELS to the sequel OPEN SEASON 2 (side note: WTF?) as well as his directorial efforts WHAT IS IT? And IT IS FINE! EVERYTHING IS FINE (side note 2: awesome titles) Glover is very much a cult icon.

And now he’s joining one hell of an odd cast. Variety is reporting that Glover has joined the cast of the upcoming Elmore Leonard adaptation, FREAKY DEAKY, joining Michael Jai White, Christian Slater, and Billy Burke in the crime film.

The project follows a couple with a set of extreme political beliefs who attempt to get a hold of some quick cash. With cops on their trail, the film is just one of many of Leonard’s beloved pieces of writing. The outlet also reveals that Tom Arnold is in talks to join the cast as well, so there you have it. One of the oddest casts in quite some time.

Personally, as a fan of Glover, this is really good news. Any time he’s added to a cast the film becomes really interesting, and this is no less the case. The premise is intriguing, so hopefully this one can get over its direct-to-DVD level expectations.
