Criterion adds a boat load of new films to their Hulu Plus page
You’re welcome guys.
Surely in honor of the relaunch of GordonAndTheWhale (I mean, it has to be, right?), Criterion added a cavalcade of new films to their ever growing Hulu Plus page on Tuesday, and this may be one of the most interesting set of additions yet.
Leading the way has to be a collection of additions from two of the most interesting Eclipse series in some time. MY CRASY LIFE and POTO AND CABENGO have been added here, both of which are helmed by the great director Jean-Pierre Gorin, and are members of Criterion’s recently released Gorin box set. They have also included the Czech films PEARLS OF THE DEEP and DAISIES, both of which will be hitting shelves later in April.
Eight films from director Keisuke Kinoshita have been added here, including the likes of THE GOOD FAIRY, SING YOUNG PEOPLE, THE LIVING MAGOROKU, A LEGEND OR WAS IT, FAREWELL TO DREAM, TRAGEDY OF JAPAN, IMMORATL LOVE, BROKEN DRUM and APOSTASY, all of which I have not seen, but all of which are some of the most interesting additions in a while. Kinoshita is a one of a kind filmmaker, and with eight more films on here, we’ve got one hell of a set of films from Kinoshita’s canon.
Chaplin shows his mug on this list as well with his short SUNNYSIDE, as does master filmmaker Masahiro Shinoda whose films SILENCE and BALLAD OF ORIN. Finally, the Carlos Saura film PEPPERMINT FRAPPE (added late last week), Jaromil Jires’ VALERIE AND HER WEEK OF WONDERS, Victor Erice’s EL SUR and Francois Truffaut’s TWO ENGLISH GIRLS are all available for your viewing pleasure.
You can join Hulu Plus here, and get two weeks free. What will you be watching?
