Neil Truglio

If you're an avid Iron and Wine fan, listen up: writer/director Neil Truglio made a movie called WE ARE THE SEA, which is inspired by music from the band. The title is even a reference to one of their songs. If that hasn't caught your attention yet, then hopefully me telling you the film is pretty damn good will: The film's pretty damn good.

WE ARE THE SEA is about a man ("Sean" - Jeff Childress) with a dark past. For the duration of the film, we see him in his last days at his job a poetry teacher. He's going through that thing all of us in our mid-twenties know so much about - the quarterlife crisis - and he's trying to figure out his life while raising a very adorable young daughter (Allison Savoy). Things start looking a little brighter when he connects with one of his students, Laine (Frazier, who also served as Production Designer on the film).

I spoke with writer/director Neil Truglio about the film during the 2010 Dallas International Film Festival. Among the things we talked about in this interview, Truglio gives insight on how he found his lead, Childress, and the inspiration and importance of using Iron and Wine. Check out the full interview after the break.
