Damon Lindelof writing original sci-fi concept for Disney
If there's one writer at the forefront of the modern sci-fi genre, it's Damon Lindelof. To his credit, Lindelof has penned and produced Lost, co-wrote COWBOYS & ALIENS with Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, as well as having writing credits on PROMETHEUS - Ridley Scott's upcoming pseudo prequel to ALIEN which the writer steered in a new, more original direction - and J.J. Abrams' planned STAR TREK sequel (also with Orci and Kurtzman).
Well, you can add one more high profile project to that list, as Lindelof has struck a deal with Disney to write and produce what is currently and mysteriously being referred to as 1952. Deadline reports that the concept is multi-platform, which could mean TV and video games to coincide with a film.
No other plot details were revealed other than the fact that the film will be science fiction-based and intended to appeal to an all-age audience. That and 1952 will be Lindelof's first film to build from the ground up, which he will begin working on after TREK 2.
As these things go with Lindelof and his colleagues, mystery is something we're used to. Not to mention excitement, something I imagine this project will have no lack of.
