Danny Boyle to helm TRANCE; will be his next film
With both SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE and 127 HOURS getting Oscar nominations (and a win for the former) and his take on Frankenstein playing on stage to really, really strong reviews, Danny Boyle may be on the hottest streak of any director around.
And now he’s set to keep that puppy going.
Deadline is reporting that Boyle will direct TRANCE, which is only being described as a film following “an art heist gone wrong.” Other details are being kept under strict lock and key, but with Boyle stuck working on the opening ceremony for the 2012 Olympics, that’s not all that shocking. The film should be ready for a 2013 release.
While I haven’t been a fan of Boyle’s post-SUNSHINE work, I do think that he has a distinct visual style that would fit perfectly into the mold of a heist film. His kinetic filmmaking and penchant for bombastic direction, combined with a fast-paced narrative could prove to be one hell of a combination, and one that Boyle could really stand to use.
What do you think?
