Any time any sort of Davie Byrne-related news hits the interwebs, I feel compelled to report on it due to my inherent fangirl-ness over the Talking Heads and their prolific frontman. Byrne is now set to score Paolo Sorrentino's next film, THIS MUST BE THE PLACE. Of course, it's a perfect fit, even down to the smallest details; "This Must Be the Place (Naive Melody)" is the title of one the Talking Heads' most popular songs (and my personal favorite). I'm certainly interested to see how the film's title applies to the film, which is not a light project. Of note, this is not the first time the Heads' song title has also been used for a film - Sam Mendes' AWAY WE GO was originally called THIS MUST BE THE PLACE, which certainly seems like a better fit. Byrne has previously scored a variety of projects - lately a number of episodes of Big Love, along with feautures like YOUNG ADAM and 1987's THE LAST EMPEROR.

Sean Penn will finally be back to acting in the film, starring as "a middle-aged wealthy rock star bored in his retirement." Instead of amusing himself with more light-hearted pursuits, he sets out to to find the man who executed his father, who also happens to be an ex-Nazi war criminal. The Holocaust element of the THIS MUST BE THE PLACE will reportedly be a strong one. Toni Servillo and Frances McDormand are also signed on to star, apparently as the executioner and Penn's wife, respectively.

The film will will be Italian director Sorrentino's first English-language feature. Sorrentino's IL DIVO was a Cannes darling back in 2008, winning the Prix du Jury prize.

The film has a reported $28 million budget, and will begin shooting in Dublin and the U.S. in August.

Also agree with #1. Every single time First Blood is on TV I watch it (which has been happening a lot on AMC). Just a damn good movie. Really original protagonist and some really good antagonists too.
