So it’s come to this now.

Instead of giving us biopics looking at the lives of people who actually have had an effect on people, Hollywood is looking to the king of television, singing competitions, to bring us true to life tales.

The first real example of this? Well, according Deadline, David Frankel has signed on to direct a biopic based on the life of famous Britain’s Got Talent star, Paul Potts. Coming in as nothing more than a seemingly mild-mannered chubby guy, Potts seemingly affirmed lives when he premiered on the famous show, proving that he could very well be a top-notch opera singer.

Frankel, best known for directing films like THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA and MARLEY AND ME, will be directing the film, currently titled ONE CHANCE, based on a screenplay from THE BUCKET LIST writer Justin Zackham. Talk about talent.

All joking aside, the story is pretty inspiring, and if you haven’t seen this guy sing, it’s really amazing stuff. You wouldn’t imagine this voice coming out of this man, but it does, and it’s kind of glorious. That said, I don’t really think it will make for a good film. What do you think?
