Let the insanity begin.

Since the very start of the hoopla behind Christopher Nolan’s brilliant THE DARK KNIGHT rumors have circulated. Ranging from Nolan’s status on the third Batman film, to casting choices like Eddie Murphy as The Riddler,  it seems everyone in Hollywood has been rumored to be attached to this thing. And with new news today, anyone who hasn’t are just days away from being linked to the film.

According to Deadline Hollywood, David Goyer and Jonah Nolan have begun the writing process for the next BATMAN film.  The follow up to THE DARK KNIGHT will easily be one of the more anticipated films of this new decade, and could give AVATAR a run for its money in box office gain. INCEPTION will hit in a matter of months, and it was never clear if this would indeed be Nolan’s next film, but it appears as though it will be.

Here’s to hoping that Nolan avoids the 3D craze that has been sweeping the world of film.  If he could find a way to use it that works, sure, but I would rather not be distracted by the masterful work from one of today’s best filmmakers.

Looking forward to this…I totally agree with your comment on 3D. Avatar has shown that it can be used to enhance the telling of the story instead of being just an “isn't it neat” gimmick. But not every tool needs to be applied to tell a story well.

I couldn't agree with you more. If it doesn't come hand in hand with the story and storytelling, I don't see why it's important or useful. It's just a gimmick really, and where I think Avatar, Up and Coraline took it three steps forward, films like PRIEST and CLASH OF THE TITANS take them just as many backwards. No need.

Have y'all seen the fan art of Phillip Seymour Hoffman as The Penguin? I've linked below. I reallllllly hope someone gets this to Hoffman. I think he could bring a lot to this franchise after Ledger's incredible performance.

Oh yeah, I would LOVE to see Hoffman get that role. It's either him or Bob Hoskins in my eyes. Both would be great, especially is Nolan used him in say a Scarecrow kind of way, as a secondary villain, with the Riddler or someone. As sort of an underground arms dealer, slowly making his way to the riches we know he has. There's a really fantastic story there, I just hope they find it.
