David O. Russell to adapt Uncharted video game?

If you have a Playstation 3 game console, and haven't played through the Uncharted series you aren't only missing out on one of the best gaming experiences of last year but possibly of this entire console generation. The series is known for its cinematic nature (something Sony made prevalent in their marketing campaign), and could be the biggest downfall of the project. Now director David O. Russell might be coming aboard to try and adapt the game franchise to film.

Word on the street is that Sony isn't wasting their time at all with the project, and after a very pleasing script they considered putting this film out summer of next year. Russell is not a sure thing yet though, and is on a list of directors being considered and have not yet gone into the deal making stage.

Although there are qualms with the idea, if they made some brilliant casting choices then this could be a really cool film. As of now I'll stay very cautiously optimistic, but if they can transfer the magic of the games into film then they'll have something really special.
