David Slade

David Slade just can't get enough of vampires it seems. Slade directed 30 DAYS OF NIGHT and THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE. Now he is in talks to direct the period horror movie, THE LAST VOYAGE OF THE DEMETER for Phoenix Pictures.

THR reports that the lead role has yet to be filled, but that Ben Kingsley and Noomi Rapace are attached to co-star. Mike Medavoy, Arnold Messer, and Bradley Fischer are producing the film.

The script was written by Bragi Schut over a decade ago and tells the story of the Demeter, the ship that transported Dracula from Transylvania to London in Bram Stoker's classic tale. In that novel, the ship washed ashore with only one survivor that had gone crazy from the horrors he witnessed. The film has yet to find financing, but that should not be a problem since ECLIPSE brought in nearly $700 million. It could take a bit for that to happen, so let's just hope that Rapace will still be available to star in the film. I am a sucker (pardon the pun) for vampire movies and I also think this story sounds pretty cool.
