Details arise on M. Night Shyamalan’s next movie; Bradley Cooper potentially involved?
Usually, filmmakers start with a film which is later considered to among their lesser works. Look at Ridley Scott, whose first film is the little seen THE DUELISTS with Harvey Keitel. Christopher Nolan started with a small film called FOLLOWING which is fine, but doesn't quite measure up to his later stuff. M. Night Shyamalan did the exact opposite. His first film is widely considered to be his best and since then, he's slowly been going downhill. A quick glance at THE HAPPENING compared to THE SIXTH SENSE is a little disheartening to say the least.
Well, Shyamalan hasn't let that stop him. He's got THE LAST AIRBENDER hitting theaters next week and we've just heard news about his next project. Get the quick synopsis after the break.
Perhaps THE LAST AIRBENDER was a good move for M. Night. It's destined to do pretty well in theaters due to the massive built-in fan base and the heavy marketing campaign behind it. If it does as well financially and critically as we're all hoping, perhaps his next project will come a bit quicker.
Deadline got the scoop regarding the script and the story, which apparently involves a father searching for his child who has just gone missing. Doesn't sound that interesting? What if the dad was played by Bradley Cooper and he had superpowers? Much better? That's what I thought.
Apparently, the rest of the cast has Bruce Willis and Gwyneth Paltrow rounding it out. The report also mentions that there's already studio interest, which is good news for me. While we don't know all that much about it, I'd really like to see Bradley Cooper in a role like this. Throw in a potentially redeemed director and we could have a hit! I'll keep my hopes up, but what are your thoughts? Any interest in this project?
