Diablo Cody re-writing EVIL DEAD remake
Earlier this week, news hit of a possible remake of the cult classic, EVIL DEAD. Now, the rumor of that remake has been floating around for years now, but with Ghost House Pictures now confirming that it is indeed happening, it looks like it’s coming our way.
Oh, and they are handing the writing reins over to an out-of-the-blue scribe. The studio just revealed that not only will the film be coming to us thanks to director Fede Alvarez, but that the project is currently being re-written by none other than Diablo Cody.
Now, response to this has definitely been mixed so far. Personally, I love this news. I frankly couldn’t care less about an EVIL DEAD remake, but now that it’s in the hands of a genuinely solid writer, I think we are in for something really special.
I wasn’t huge on JUNO, but JENNIFER’S BODY is solid, and her script for the upcoming film YOUNG ADULT is top-notch. I’m not familiar with Alvarez as a filmmaker, but Cody gives this project a definite boost of intrigue. Toss in Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell on as producers and you have one hell of a remake.
