Diego Luna joins ELYSIUM

And even though this thing is still years away from hitting the big screen, the cast for Neill Blomkamp’s upcoming flick ELYSIUM continues to not only grow, but grow at an impressive rate.

Variety is reporting that Diego Luna, best known for turns in Y TU MAMA TAMBIEN and MILK, has joined the cast of the upcoming film, which already stars Jodie Foster, Sharlto Copley, William Fichtner, Wagner Moura, Alice Braga, and Matt Damon.

The film apparently follows “aliens and humans doing battle on Earth” which, with Blomkamp’s patented blend of commentary and action, could be one hell of a fun ride.

With BLADE RUNNER designer Syd Mead aboard the project as well, this is bound to be one of the most interesting and visually striking sci-fi flicks in quite some time. Now, as a fan of Blomkamp’s beloved debut DISTRICT 9, anything this guy does will have me looking forward to it, but the fact that it’s a sci-fi action film with this great cast and crew is the stuff of greatness. I can’t wait.
