Disney picks up Ahmet Zappa and Michael Wilson’s MONSTER WITNESS RELOCATION PROGRAM
Disney has acquired a spec script from Frank Zappa spawn Ahmet Zappa and Michael Wilson called MONSTER WITNESS RELOCATION PROGRAM. It appears that Disney will work with Will Smith's production company, Overlook Entertainment, and develop the film as a potential starring vehicle for Jaden Smith.
Jaden Smith was the star of the hit KARATE KID remake and he is quickly gaining star power to rival his famous parents. Though there are no details on the plot of MONSTER WITNESS RELOCATION PROGRAM, one is reminded of Will Smith's roles in the MEN IN BLACK films - I wonder if these films will be similar.
Ahmet Zappa seems to have found his calling dealing with the secret lives of monsters, having penned The Monstrous Memoirs of a Mighty McFearless. That book focuses on a brother and sister who learn that they come from a long line of monster hunters. They duo are forbidden to learn about their family business by their widowed father. Seems like dark subject matter for a kid, but just the type of stuff I was interested in as a young lass. Disney has already purchased the option for that book, but the project is still in development.
