If you know anything about me (or even if you just follow my tweets), you probably realize that I am a huge animal lover. And I'm not one of those pie-in-the-sky puppy people - I've worked at a vet's office, I know the consequences of abuse, neglect, disease, and old age. I'm a nature film junkie - I know what Mother Earth can and does do to her furriest and scaliest inhabitants. But despite my realism when it comes to animal and nature films, they almost always leave me sobbing. Just recently, BORN TO BE WILD 3D made me cry within its first thirty seconds (a new record), and last night's screening of AFRICAN CATS resulted in my genuinely wondering if I would need therapy afterwards.

Which brings me to Disneynature's next documentary release, CHIMPANZEE, another film destined to leave me a heaving mess. CHIMPANZEE is an "intimate look at the world of chimpanzees...To be shot over three years in the tropical jungles of the Ivory Coast and Uganda, [the film] will help us better understand this exceptionally intelligent species." It sounds beautiful and magical. Thanks to /Film, we now have a look at its first trailer. Guess what, it's beautiful and magical. Check it out after the break.

CHIMPANZEE is set to open on April 20, 2012.
