Does Matthew Vaughn want to adapt Gaiman’s SANDMAN?
“Sandman” is one of the most revered and highly praised comics of all time, very much like “Watchmen.” Fans have argued for ages if “Sandman” should be adapted to film or not. Much like “Watchmen” (which was ulimately turned into a feature last year), some argue that it is an unfilmable movie. But would it change fans’ minds if Matthew Vaughn, director of KICK-ASS, was at the helm?
Check out what he had to say after the jump!
“I would love to do Sandman, but I think it’s stuck in development hell. But that could be like a Lord of the Rings – just a huge movie.”
This wouldn’t be Vaughn’s first time adapting Gaiman’s work, as he directed STARDUST a couple years ago. Unfortunately, the film wasn’t much of a success, which doesn’t help his case much for SANDMAN. But KICK-ASS could win him back in fans’ eyes, considering how good it looks and the buzz it’s been garnering.
I’m so excited about KICK-ASS; if the film goes on to be a success, then I think Vaughn will probably have enough clout to do any sort of project he wants. I think he most likely could bring the correct tone and feel to a SANDMAN movie. Would you fans out there like to see a film adaptation by Matthew Vaughn?
