Drew Barrymore

Drew Barrymore is moving from being in front of the camera on her upcoming film from Universal, WHALES, to being behind the lens on her second directorial effort in the upcoming romantic comedy HOW TO BE SINGLE. According to THR, Barrymore is also co-producing with Nancy Juvonen under their Flower Films banner.

The film is based on the book of the same title written by Liz Tuccillo, and explores "the loves lives and break-ups of a group of New Yorkers over the course of ten years." Marc Silverstein and Abby Kohn wrote the adaptation that is being set up in the same vein as VALENTINE'S DAY and HE'S NOT THAT INTO YOU. This makes sense seeing as how HE'S NOT THAT INTO YOU was produced by Barrymore and Juvonen and written by Silverstein and Kohn.

I was pleasantly surprised by Barrymore's WHIP IT, which starred Ellen Page,Kristen Wiig, and Marcia Gay Harden, along with a slew of other great character actors. These types of films with overarching stories are in popular demand as of late. Barrymore is good actor, but I am interested to see her behind the camera again.
