With his latest feature film, DRIVE ANGRY 3D, set to bow on Friday, director Patrick Lussier has become arguably the king of the modern day B-movie thriller/horror film.

Following the blast of a horror film that was MY BLOODY VALENTINE 3D, Lussier has garnered quite a good amount of buzz, buzz that has apparently given him two brand new films. The Playlist has revealed that Lussier and writer Todd Farmer are currently working on two brand new films, CIRCLE OF SILENCE, and a vampire “court room thriller” titled ALREADY DEAD.

ALREADY DEAD is described by Lussier as “basically like JAGGED EDGE, meets a sort of grown up thriller. A court room thriller. And then CIRCLE OF SILENCE is a project that came to me from Bill Tyler and Jonathan Green, one of the producers and one of the writers. It’s a true story of a New York police officer shot in 1972, in a Harlem Mosque.  And then it’s sort of the Moby Dick of police stories. The investigation went on for years to try and bring to justice the killer of this officer and at this time its still an open case on the NYPD files so but it’s a great story. It has a lot of political elements with it, so we’ll see what happens to it, but it would be an amazing film to make.”

Apparently both films have completed screenplays, with DEAD in “the notes stage,” and CIRCLE being shopped around to studios.

Personally, I’m a massive fan of Lussier’s brand of horror/thrillers, so the idea of him doing a court room vampire thriller, has me quite excited. Toss in an interesting sounding true life story like STORY, and you have two films that seem to be a bit out of step for the director. Here’s to hoping they can keep the same awesome camp standards.
