DRIVE ANGRY 3D writer/director team helming HELLRAISER remake

Apparently hard-R 3D horror films don’t quite pay like PG-13 horror remakes.

According to Collider, Christian E. Christiansen won’t in fact be directing the upcoming remake of the cult horror film, HELLRAISER, but instead, the film will be helmed by DRIVE ANGRY 3D and MY BLOODY VALENTINE 3D director Patrick Lussier, with a script penned by Lussier’s writing partner, Todd Farmer.

Christiansen was in fact in talks to direct the film, but it has obviously fallen into different, and a bit more interesting, hands.

As a fan of MY BLOODY VALENTINE, this does definitely bode well for the film, at least from a horror fan’s point of view, but with that PG-13 rating still apparently on tap, it frankly doesn’t matter to this writer. If the rating does fall through, and we do in fact get a hard-R rated HELLRAISER remake, then I’ll rethink my outlook on this project. But at this point, it’s a Dimension Films PG-13 remake, which is as far from worthwhile cinema as one could get.
