DUMB AND DUMBER and BRUCE ALMIGHTY might get sequels

Jim Carrey is one of Hollywood’s most respected comedic talents. Unlike most modern actors famous for their humor, he’s proven himself as a very capable actor in dramatic features like THE TRUMAN SHOW and has shown a knack for less mainstream features like ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND. However, most of his recent works have done little to develop on – or in the very least live up to – such promise.

Carrey recently talked to ComingSoon about MR. POPPER’S PENGUINS, due out later this month. He was inquired about upcoming projects, and it doesn’t look like he’s heading back to the art-house anytime soon; here’s what he had to say about some of his upcoming projects:

"We're talking about maybe returning to some old characters that everyone has been asking about...There's 'BRUCE ALMIGHTY' and we're talking about maybe another 'DUMB AND DUMBER.'"

Both of those features were huge hits, the latter serving as Carrey’s breakthrough performance. I’m not a huge fan of BRUCE ALMIGHTY, and EVAN ALMIGHTY, a strangely calculated attempt at making its predecessor family-friendly, was even less tolerable, so I’m not too thrilled about a possible sequel there. DUMB AND DUMBER, though, could make for a promising sequel if, and only if, Carrey and Jeff Daniels sign on to star.
