Edgar Wright working on a new draft of ANT-MAN
If there has ever been a comic book-based dream project that just seems to not have its footing, it’s Edgar Wright’s take on the Marvel B-character, and scientist Avenger, ANT-MAN.
Now, however, the LA Times is reporting that that may in fact change.
The outlet is reporting that the SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD helmer has gone back to the page, and is currently working on yet another draft of the massively talked about project. The first work he’s done on the film in about two years, the film has yet to get a budget, cast, or even cinematic tone, but it’s apparently getting a brand new draft, which is music to this writer’s ears.
Not the studied Ant-Man fan, it takes a lot for me to truly get interested in a cinematic adaptation of a character that I’m not all that familiar with, and this is just that thing. Wright is the perfect man to take on this relatively campy character, who can control his size, as well as talk to insects. The film has no pressure to be made from Marvel or Disney, so it appears as though they have no plans to get the film done prior to THE AVENGERS, and that lack of a time frame may prove to be just the thing a film like this, and its two writers Wright and Joe Cornish, need to craft the perfect project.
