Elijah Wood-led Iggy Pop biopic “on the shelf” – Pop wants Lindsay Lohan to star

Lindsay Lohan

Quick, come up with a  list of actors who should play legendary punk rock icon, Iggy Pop, in a biopic. You have a moment or two.

Got a list?

Now how many of those were topped by troubled starlet Lindsay Lohan? None? Well then you all aren’t as creative as the man himself.

According to an interview with ABC.net.au (via The Playlist) Papa Stooge himself, Iggy Pop, announced that the long gestating biopic (starring Elijah Wood) based on the life of him and his band, The Stooges, is now “on the shelf,” further saying that "It's nothing against Elijah and the script was ok but they sort of wanted me to jump out of cakes and do promotional things and I didn't really want to get involved. I didn't think it was time for someone else to tell our story because inevitably it's not just my story it's everybody I worked with."

Now, while that’s fine and well, the legend continues, saying that “if somebody did want to make a biopic of me, I think they should get Lindsay Lohan actually. She looks like me and she’s the only one with the attitude too.  They could tape her boobs up or something.  She’s been in jail at the right age and everything so I thought she could do it.”

That is a biopic I’d be willing to see.

Many of you may scoff at the idea of the shirtless rocker being played by anyone of the opposite gender, but remember, women have played male musicians before (or in the example I’ll state, ideas of the artist) in films like I'M NOT THERE, and to great effect. Lohan would be a massively inspired choice, and one that I would genuinely get interested in. Otherwise, consider this just another THE RUNAWAYS type biopic, which is both a gift and a curse of a comparison.

What do you think about this idea? I think Lohan is a massively talented thespian, when she gets a shot, so I’m on the side of the fence supporting this concept. What about you?
