Evangeline Lilly joins THE HOBBIT
The Shire just keeps getting more and more full.
Along with recently cast names like Luke Evans and Benedict Cumberbatch, the Facebook page for the upcoming film THE HOBBIT has announced that two more have joined the hotly anticipated project.
The page revealed that Barry Humphries had joined the cast as Gorkin The Goblin King, and, the most interesting addition to date, Evangeline Lilly has also joined up, in the role of a new character, Taruiel. Tauriel is a Woodland Elf, “the daughter of Mirkwood,” and is a character wholly new to the upcoming Peter Jackson-directed projects.
With regards to Humphries character, it will be a character similar to that of Andy Serkis’ turn as Gollum, so expect a bit of motion capture in this upcoming film too. Personally, while I’m not too familiar with The Hobbit as a novel, I do have quite a bit of interest in the cast being built here. I’m a huge fan of Lilly as an actress, particularly in the little I’ve seen of Lost and her turn in THE HURT LOCKER. Now, I’m an admitted dissenter with regards to THE LORD OF THE RINGS, but while the world itself may not interest me, the cast being put together here really does intrigue me.
