Ewan McGregor to star in Terry Gilliam’s THE MAN WHO KILLED DON QUIXOTE?

Don Quixote

It's settled, Ewan McGregor will star in Terry Gilliam's THE MAN WHO KILLED DON QUIXOTE. The film has been in development for over a decade now and is finally moving forward with a 20 million dollar budget. The film's production problems even sparked a documentary titled LOST IN LA MACHA, so it's reasonable to be worried this time around.

Robert Duvall will star as Don Quixote himself and the film is scheduled to start filming later this year...as long as nothing derails the project for the millionth time. To find out more about the role McGregor will play in the film, check out more after the break.

Pending the possibility that the apocalypse doesn't occur during filming, Gilliam is confident that THE MAN WHO KILLED DON QUIXOTE will be made this year. With McGregor taking on the role that originally belonged to Johnny Depp, the main cast is set and the cameras will start rolling in September. The film itself centers around a filmmaker (McGregor) who finds himself caught up in the wild adventures of Don Quixote (Duvall), who is searching for the woman he truly loves. McGregor's character will take on the pseudo-reluctant role of Sancho Panza as he is dragged across the world with Quixote.

I seriously hope this film stays on course this time; the project has been a deep passion of Gilliam for a very long time and it would be nice to see his film finally come to reality. With a stellar cast and his unique perspective behind the camera, this could very well be a fantastic film.
