EXTREMELY LOUD AND INCREDIBLY CLOSE to hit theaters in December?
Stephen Daldry’s EXTREMELY LOUD AND INCREDIBLY CLOSE, based on the Jonathan Safran Foer novel of the same name, focuses on a child seeking clues about a possession of his father after he dies in the horrible 9/11 terrorist attacks. Starring Sandra Bullock and Tom Hanks, the film is not only looking like an awards contender, but also a potential box office smash.
Until now, though, we had no idea when the film would be hitting theaters. IMDb (still) has the film listed as a 2012 release, but there was once a desire for the film to be ready for a release that would coincide with the tenth anniversary of 9/11.
However, in its rundown of already seen Oscar contenders, Variety lists EXTREMELY LOUD AND INCREDIBLY CLOSE as a December release; a new poster for the film, alongside one for J. EDGAR, was just revealed this past week, so Warner Bros. is definitely gearing up for a high-profile awards campaign.
