Failed JUSTICE LEAGUE movie would’ve been “dark, brutal, and epic”

As a die hard DC Universe guy it's been difficult for me to see Marvel kicking ass in the movie markets. Batman has been the only recent success (and that's all thanks to Chris Nolan). A few years ago the rumors of a JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA film hit a fever pitch when George Miller (HAPPY FEET) began work on the project. Unfortunately, plans fell through when the rumored 300 million dollar budget couldn't be pulled together. Recently Jay Baruchel sat down with Digital Spy and dished on the cancelled film...

Baruchel had this to say about the JLA movie...

"I'll just say this, if we had been able to make the movie that we had gone down [to Australia] to rehearse, if you had seen the production art I'd seen... it would've been the coolest thing ever. It would have been the neatest vision of Batman and the coolest vision of Superman you've ever seen. It would have been dark and fairly brutal and quite gory and just f**king epic... My friends, who were training to be Batman and Superman, they were down there for three months training and going to Weta in New Zealand to get their costumes. Weta, which is arguably the greatest special effects house on Earth, they had to cancel everything else.

They were doing nothing but our movie. It was going to be f**king dope! They had everything there; maquettes, pre-visualisation, absolutely everything and we had assembled this neat cast. The rehearsal process was so strange and so unconventional and, I know it sounds hard to belief, but I assure you it would have been something f**king awesome!"

If the sheer amount of F-Bombs used to describe the process were not enough to convince you that the film would be great, I dont know what will. I can only hope that THE GREEN LANTERN launches a new Marvel-esque mentality inside DC and gets the ball rolling 0n a new JLA film. Only time will tell!
