With various takes on a cavalcade of fairy tales making their way to the big screen in the coming few years, one of the most interesting projects, HANSEL & GRETEL: WITCH HUNTERS, just got a bit more interesting.

The Playlist has revealed that Famke Janssen will be joining the film, which already has Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton in the film’s titular lead roles.

The film is being penned by D.W. Harper, who may be best known for penning the script to the yet-to-be-produced film ALL YOU NEED IS KILL, and follows the two characters as adults, who have become full time witch hunters.  Janssen’s role has yet to be defined.

It’s been a while since we’ve really seen Janssen on the big screen in a bigger project, so it’s definitely interesting to see what she’ll bring to this film. We don’t know when the film is set to start or release (it has been rumored that a March start date may be the case), but this is definitely a film to keep an eye on. I’m a big fan of Janssen as an actor, so this is one hell of an interesting addition.
