Mark Romanek

On a beautiful fall day, I met with director Mark Romanek to talk about his beautiful fall film, NEVER LET ME GO. Although classified as science fiction, this is a bittersweet love story set against the backdrop of an alternate past in which humans have found the cure for all disease. It follows three children through to adulthood, through the pain and joy, love and denial, hope and acceptance that surround human existance.

After the jump, Romanek explains the ease of working with talented actors, clarifies some scenes for me, and retains his amazingly cool director status.
