FINAL DESTINATION 5 gets its writer
THE FINAL DESTINATION wasn't really a breath of fresh air to the franchise that was suffocating from some extensive Rube Goldberg machine of death. All the film did was recycle the exact same formula again, but with a new set of kids. The film did go on to be a major financial success, so there are people who go out to see these movies. Luckily for them, the fifth movie is going forward and now officially has a writer.
Eric Heisserer, who recently penned the prequel film to THE THING has been picked up for the film, which is said to include a laser eye surgery scene (I'm cringing at the thought). Heisserer is expected to bring some reinvention to the series, and make it feel exciting again.
Currently, they're keeping the project under wraps, which has to make you wonder if they are actually taking this one in a slightly different direction. Either way, the flick is coming. Not to mention that just like it's predecessor, it will be in 3D.
