Final Destination 5

Talk about a lack of commitment to the art of B-movie horror titles. Apparently, 5NAL DESTINATION was just too awesome of a title for New Line, as the studio, according to Bloody Disgusting, will be changing the title of the fifth film in their FINAL DESTINATION franchise.  No official title has been announced yet, but don’t be shocked if it’s FINAL DESTINATION 5, or, as The Playlist put it, FINAL DE5TINATION.Personally, this does absolutely nothing for my interest in the film, as it shouldn’t for anyone.

However, what does completely kill my interest, is the F-level cast being put together, including P.J. Byrne, Miles Fisher, Arlen Escarpeta, Nicholas D’Agosto, Ellen Wroe, Meghan Ory, David Koechner and Tony Todd.  Throw in James Cameron’s right hand man, Steven Quale, as directing, and you have a film that I can’t wait to avoid. Don't get me wrong, I love me a good, brainless horror film just as much as the next PIRANHA 3D fan, but this franchise is one that could really use either a bit of time away from the public, and then a reboot, or just a complete and utter overhaul, as it's neither scary, nor fun at this point.

It shoots next month, with a release date set for August 26, 2011.  What do you think about this franchise?
